Electrochemical Wastewater Treatment Process

What is the process of electrochemical wastewater treatment? Electrochemical wastewater treatment utilizes cathodes and anodes installed inside a reactor. When direct current is applied to the electrodes, oxidation, reduction, and coagulation reactions occur simultaneously.
Some pollutants are directly decomposed on the electrode surface, while others are removed through highly reactive oxidizing species generated during the electrochemical process. As a result, contaminants such as COD, color, heavy metals, oils, and suspended solids can be effectively removed from wastewater.
